THE VULTURE’S NEST

Started a business? Looking for a venture capitalist? And they say it’s a trek to get one. Well, it’s a bit uphill but you can scale these heights...with a whole lot of passion and some of these:

The Idea: Your business idea should be inevitably positively distracting. It should make some of the listeners across the table fidget. Believe it, an out-of-the-box business idea wins you the VC with little effort. The idea itself is the USP and your prospective VC is convinced it’ll sell instantly.

Market: Now, whether your business idea is innovative or not, you need to get through to your target buyers/users. What with more than reasonable number of people looking forward to your product even before it is launched. If your product shares space with other strong players, think disruptive and carve a niche radiant enough to attract out-of-turn attention. Your VC will like it for sure. The logic is the more your target market loves you, the more will your investor.

The Team: A strong team with the right mix of people is the next yardstick to set the VC’s adrenaline rushing for your venture. Figure out which expertise you need immediately. It should be inevitably advertising and sales to begin. Get people with impressive professional graphs and an undying zeal towards their work. Above all, each team member should have very high regard for team work and not fight for individual credit and recognition.

You, the Leader: Being a leader is not easy. You have to be an equal with your team to lead them. Well, it may be complicated but you need to strike a balance. Also, you need to balance between team work and giving individual credits. When you pat individuals for their great work, it shouldn’t go on to boost egos leading to fissures in the team infrastructure so painfully put together. At the same time don’t try to grab credit for the extraordinary work being done by your company.

Future: Be focused about your goals and revenue. Everything should be in black and white, absolutely clear.

Business Model: All the above should be elaborately put down as power point presentation as conventionally preferred although you may have innovative ways of putting your business plan across to your prospective VCs. You may say it through videos or pictures too. It is bound to be more impressive. But, only if the videos and pictures are high quality well-edited and convey the message right and clear.

These are the only things that will get the VC’s much coveted money. So go for it! They are waiting!
